INTERRELATING THE ARTS SATURDAY CLASS LESSON PLAN WITH WRITTEN REFLECTION
2C: understands how different art forms combine to create an interrelated artwork (e.g., musical theatre,
and cinematography).
2E: analyzes and evaluates similar and distinctive characteristics of artworks in and among the arts.
7L: identifies and applies teaching methods for integrating visual arts with other art forms and subject areas.
Description: Attached is my lesson plan I taught for week two of Saturday classes as well as the reflection I wrote after teaching it.

Rationale: The lesson plan attached demonstrates my ability to choose different artists and activities to interrelate the arts with language arts as well as pick the artists' work apart to find the most important aspects. It also shows diverse teaching methods used to engage my students in meaningful discussions, art making, and critiques. My reflection shows my ability to be critical of my teaching as well as reflect upon what my students were doing.

Evidence:

SATURDAY CLASS LESSON PLANS
7B: understands a variety of current age-appropriate instructional strategies and their applications.
Description:Attached below are the five lessons my group and I wrote for our Saturday classes. Three of them are second grade and two are fourth grade.

Rationale: These lessons demonstrate my ability to choose relevant, contemporary artists to base lessons on for my students. It also shows my understanding of age appropriate lessons that both engage my students as well as make them more thoughtful artists.

Evidence:

SATURDAY CLASS CLASSROOM SET-UP DOCUMENTATION
7D: understands how to organize the instructional environment to maximize students’ learning.
Description:Below are images of my classroom for my fourth grade class from week five of Saturday classes. The first picture is the white board with the day's schedule as well as the objectives the students were expected to reach. The second image is of our vocabulary board with our teacher examples displayed below.

Rationale: The white board shows that I understand that students require organization in order for them to stay on task with what is expected of them. It also shows that I went over the objectives with my students, so they know exactly what they would be learning that day and why they were learning it. The vocabulary board demonstrates my ability to pick out the key words or phrases that the students need in order to succeed, and present them in a presentable and approachable way. It also shows that I understand that students need language supports when learning new information.

PROFESSIONALISM, ADVOCACY & LEADERSHIP: PAL 2  (2 submissions)
7N: advances his or her knowledge of current developments in the field by participating in professional development activities (e.g., coursework, professional organizations, and workshops).

Description:
I participated in speaking at the IAEA Conference held at Illinois State this year. My team and I presented different contemporary lessons to teach high school students. My partner Mariah and I talked about our lesson from Art 211 that challenged students to create art work that incorporated their identity in unique ways using symbols and branding.

Rationale: This experience brought me out of my comfort zone to talk in front of experienced teachers about a lesson that I taught to high school students. Though it was extremely intimidating, I gained a lot of confidence and was very humbled by the experience. I feel much more equipped to both present lesson plans to my future principal/department head as well as my students.

Description: A couple of my classmates were amazing and held an Art Education art show in our student gallery; two of my pieces were featured though I only have a picture of one below. The piece is an oil painting created from a reference photo I took of my sister.

Rationale: This was a great experience that both gave me an opportunity to showcase my work, but also see the work of my fellow art educators which I hadn't seen before. Because I am majoring in art education, I don't have a lot of opportunities to be able to display my work or even make a lot of work because I have a lot to do academically, so having a concrete event to make work for was a perfect experience for me right now.
